Turn the Privacy Issue into a Non issue
First generation threat-detection portal technology—backscatter x-ray and millimeter wave—has raised concerns a great deal of concern regarding personal privacy. Having been referred to as a “virtual strip search”, these technologies have stirred public outrage that these devices cross lines of decency and civil rights.
Nonetheless, attempts have been made to alleviate public and private concerns by physically separating the screening personnel and developing software that disguises private parts. These solutions have left backscatter x-ray and millimeter wave systems with more limited functionality and while doing little to alleviate the concerns of the public and civil liberty groups.
However, it is not necessary to pit civil liberties against security concerns. Because Iscon1000 uses passive infrared technology, rather than active x-ray or millimeter waves. Iscon’s infrared technology simply scans for temperature differences between objects contrasted with the surface of the human body. No photo realistic images of the body are produced. And therefore no privacy issues exist.
